A word from Head Coach David Cutcliffe:

Dear Parents & Campers,

I would like to personally thank you for considering Ole Miss as one of your football camp selections for 2001. I have established the best camp staff possible to ensure that you receive full benefit from the knowledge of the finest coaches in all of college and high school football here in the Southeast.

The purpose of our camp is to teach the fundamentals of all positions on the football field. In order to do this, we will provide position specific video instruction accompanied by individual instruction from the Ole Miss staff to help you learn more about each position. Along with position specific instruction, our staff will also give lectures on motivation, life skills, and academic responsibility.

Included in this year's camp will be a featured lecture by Ole Miss Strength Coach Ruben Mendoza. He will provide information and different methods to use at home on how you can improve your personal skills testing.

Many of our camps offer a day camp option for those who live in the Oxford area. Day Camp will run from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., with lunch provided.

Due to many high schools using different regulated footballs, campers who are enrolled as a quarterback or wide receiver will need to bring their own football with them.

Best wishes and I hope to see you at one of the 2001 David Cutcliffe Football Camps.

Go Rebels,
David Cutcliffe

The Cutcliffe Profile

In his second full season as head coach at Ole Miss, David Cutcliffe wrapped up the 2000 campaign with a 7-5 overall record, including a thrilling victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the annual Egg Bowl Classic between the two rivals. The 2000 season gives Cutcliffe a record of 16-9, as head coach.

Considered one of the best offensive minds in college football, Cutcliffe became The University of Mississippi's 34th head coach on December 2, 1998, after serving 16 seasons at the University of Tennessee. Weeks later, he would earn his first win as a head coach, as the Rebels defeated Texas Tech in the 1998 Sanford Independence Bowl, 35-18.

Cutcliffe, 46, has long been recognized as one of the most highly esteemed assistant coaches in college football. In December of 1998, the long-time Tennessee aide capped his career as an outstanding assistant coach when he was named to receive the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant coach, for which he was also a finalist in 1997.

As soon as he was named Tennessee head coach before the Hall of Fame Bowl in 1992, Head Coach Phillip Fulmer added responsibilities of assistant head coach and offensive coordinator to Cutcliffe's previous assignment of working with quarterbacks. Cutcliffe's workload at Tennessee documents the trust placed in him by Fulmer. He filled all three posts both capably and enthusiastically. In the latter position, David supervised the development of Heath Shuler and Peyton Manning as they directed the rewriting of the Vol record book during the Fulmer era.

While serving on the Tennessee staff, Cutcliffe helped the Vols compile a 154-46-7 record while winning five SEC championships and one national title. In his 16 years at Tennessee, the Vols went to 15 bowl games, winning 11 times and rolling up five straight bowl victories during one stretch.

A Birmingham native, Cutcliffe signed a scholarship with Bear Bryant's Alabama Crimson Tide fresh out of Banks High School in 1972. However, an injury ended football-playing days at Tuscaloosa. The one-time linebacker graduated from Alabama in 1976 and went immediately into the coaching profession. Cutcliffe's first assignment came at his high school alma mater, Banks. His first four years were spent as an assistant coach. He was promoted in 1980 to head coach of the perennially strong Birmingham school and compiled a 17-4-1 record over a two-year period.

Cutcliffe is married to the former Karen Oran and they have three children ? Chris, Katie, and Emily Elizabeth.

Accident Insurance

If the camper is covered under an existing health insurance policy, the existing personal or ground insurance policy covering the camper must be claimed upon first.

Upon receipt of an explanation of benefits statement of claim and accompanying medical bill, Nationwide Insurance Providers will then pay all deductibles and other out of pocket expenses incurred.

If a camper is without any present health coverage, Nationwide Insurance will pay 100% of all medical bills associated with a camp injury or sickness. In such a case, parents will be asked to present a letter from each of their employers stating no primary coverage is available before Nationwide Insurance will begin payments.

The Insurance does not include coverage to and from home and the campus. Professional athletic trainers are on duty at all times during the camp.
