OXFORD,Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team ended the year ranked No. 31 in the nation in the final WingspanBank.com Collegiate Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Friday. The Lady Rebels had ended ranked in the top 25 11 consecutive years prior to this year.

The SEC led the nation with 11 schools making the NCAA field of 64 and all 11 participants ending the year ranked among the top 40. In addition, four SEC teams finished the year ranked in the nation's top 10. NCAA Champion, Stanford claimed the top spot followed by Florida, Duke, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona State, Southern California, Northwestern and Notre Dame rounding out the top 10.

"I am very happy with the way that we finished the year strongly, beating LSU in the NCAAs and playing a great match against Stanford, the eventual winner," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "We battled hard this year and learned a lot. I am confident that we are going to be better next year because of the challenges that we faced this year and the way that we worked our way through them."

In the singles rankings, sophomore Julie DeRoo ended the year ranked No. 34. She made her second appearance in the NCAA Championships in singles finishing with a 16-13 overall record. This marks the second year in a row that DeRoo has finished the year ranked among the nation's 40.
