University of Mississippi football coach David Cutcliffe will see football of a different brand when he attends the Memphis Xplorers arenafootball2 game against the Pensacola Barracudas on Saturday June 16th. The game at the DeSoto Civic Center kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
Cutcliffe took the reins of the Ole Miss program just prior to the 1998 Independence Bowl. He led the Rebels to a victory over Texas Tech. The next season, a return trip to the Independence Bowl saw the Rebels top Oklahoma, capping off an 8-4 campaign. Last year, Cutcliffe made it three for three in postseason appearances, guiding the Rebels to the Music City Bowl.
"It's great that coach Cutcliffe will be available to talk with our fans. We know there's a lot of college football fans from all the teams around here (not just Ole Miss) that want to know what's going on with other teams," Xplorers general manager Rob Nichols said. "This will give all the SEC fans a chance to get an early jump on the college football season."
Cutcliffe will be introduced at 6 p.m. in the banquet hall along the west wing of the DeSoto Civic Center. He will hold a question and answer session, followed by an informal meet and mingle gathering with fans. He will also perform the coin toss on the field prior to the game. Les Binkley, who kicked for the Rebels under Cutcliffe is now with the Xplorers.
Fans can purchase tickets for all Xplorers' game at the DeSoto Civic Center box office. Tickets can also be ordered online at www.ticketmaster.com, or charged by phone at (901) 525-1515.
