RICHMOND, Va. - Ole Miss rising sophomore Kendrick Triggs earned a spot on the US Junior National team that will be competing at the Junior Pan American Games Oct. 18-20, in Santa Fe, Argentina. Triggs finished second in the 200 meters (20.98) at the US Junior National meet on Saturday, in earning his spot on the team. The top three finishers in each event qualified for the USA team.

"We are really excited for Kendrick," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. "This is a big honor for him. This is the beginning of a great career for him and this goes to show he is headed in the right direction."

Triggs' international travels will take him to England for a dual meet with Great Britain, Aug. 18. The USA team will then head to Scotland for further qualifying meets in preparation for the Junior Pan Am Games.

"I am excited to go overseas," said Triggs. "I am looking forward to running for the USA. Wearing that uniform is a big accomplishment and I hope to represent both the USA and Ole Miss in a great way."

Triggs becomes the second Rebel to make the USA Junior National team following in the footsteps of rising junior James Shelton. Shelton won a gold and bronze medal at the 1999 Junior Pan American Games.
