OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss softball team has received national letters of intent from two junior college transfers and two incoming freshmen, all of which will be eligible for the 2001-2002 season, as announced by Rebel head coach Candi Letts.

Sophomores Andrea Brahs and Becky Testin both spent last season at Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, Fla. Brahs, a native of Boynton, Fla., saw action at first base, third base and catcher for IRCC, hitting .342 with 11 doubles and 39 RBI.

Testin played all over the diamond for Indian River. The Auburndale, Fla., native earned first team All-Southern Conference honors in 2001 and was named team MVP, posting a .408 average with 16 doubles and 48 stolen bases.

"Andrea is a strong power hitter and very solid at third base. She will make an immediate impact in our program," Letts said. "Becky is a very talented utility player. She can play anywhere on the field."

DeDe Justice of Vero Beach, Fla., was a three-time All-Treasure Lakes Conference selection and a three-time team MVP at Vero Beach High School. Justice played catcher in addition to seeing action at first base and the outfield, and as a senior, hit .347 with seven home runs and 23 RBI.

"DeDe is a strong hitter with very good defensive skills behind the plate," Letts said. "She is very athletic and has a desire to improve."

Jessica Whitaker, a utility infielder from Covington, Tenn., earned All-District honors twice at Covington High School. The 2001 District MVP batted .308 with 15 doubles, four homers and 25 RBI as a senior.

"Jessica has plenty of raw talent, and we are excited that she is a part of our program," Letts said.
