OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss' Jamie Cummings was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America Softball Third Team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Cummings, a senior outfielder from Jackson, graduated in May with a 3.93 GPA in Pre-Medicine. She is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and this year's co-recipient of the Eugenia Conner Memorial Award, given to a Lady Rebel student-athlete that exhibits strong character and leadership.
On the diamond, Cummings was voted by her teammates as the 2001 team MVP. She started 45 of the Rebels' 46 games in left field and established career highs in batting average, RBI and stolen bases.
