MIAMI, Fla. - Ole Miss offensive lineman Terrence Metcalf has been named to the Football News 2001 Preseason All-American First Team, as announced on Wednesday.
Metcalf, a senior tackle, has been a regular on the preseason All-America lists, gathering the honor from Playboy, Street & Smith's, Lindy's, Football Action and Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook. Preview Sports, Southeastern Post and The Birmingham News also honored Metcalf as a preseason All-SEC first team pick.
A native of Clarksdale, Miss., Metcalf is rated by Lindy's as the nation's third best tackle heading into the 2001 season. He has started every game over the last two years for the Rebels, helping Ole Miss allow the fewest sacks in the SEC in 2000 and produce the SEC's second-leading rushing attack in 1999.
Metcalf garnered 2000 All-SEC accolades from the league coaches and The Associated Press among others, and was a 1999 second team All-America by The Sporting News.
