OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football team battled it out again on the practice fields as two-a-day workouts continued on Thursday. The Rebels worked on position drills and then capped off the morning workout with a short scrimmage focusing on the inside running game.
"We changed the tempo a bit during the morning practice," said Ole Miss Head Coach David Cutcliffe. "I was pleased with the physical play and intensity during our morning workout."
The Rebels short but spirited scrimmage earned them an early release from the morning practice.
"We shortened the morning practice in order to let the players get their feet back under them," said Cutcliffe. "They have been going hard all week, and we thought they deserved a break."
Ole Miss returned to the practice fields in the evening for their regularly scheduled practice.
The Rebels will continue their schedule of full-contact, two-a-day practices on Friday.
Ole Miss will host "Meet the Rebels Day," presented by Cellular One, on Saturday, August 18, in The Grove. The Rebels kick off the 2001 campaign against Murray State on Sept. 1, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field. Game time for the season opener is 6:00 p.m.
