OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss football team practiced in shorts and shoulder pads for two hours Tuesday, as they continue preparation for Saturday's season-opener against Murray State.
As the Rebels get closer to kickoff, head coach David Cutcliffe likes what he sees in his team's preparation and is pleased with the effort and work of the team.
"We pushed through, and we accomplished a lot for a Tuesday practice," Cutcliffe said. "We normally practice hard on Tuesday's of gameweek, before backing off as the week progresses. Tuesday is a big day for us. Now, we will start concentrating on the timing aspects and the mental part of the game."
With four days until the first snap, Cutcliffe says his team is ready to start the season and hit somebody else for a change.
"This team is anxious to play for real." Cutcliffe said. "We will continue mental preparations the rest of the week to make sure we get lined up in the right places and take care of our business so we are ready on Saturday."
Kickoff for Saturday's tilt with Murray State is 6 p.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field. All fans are reminded to enter the stadium at the gate specified on their ticket due to construction in the south endzone.
