OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss continued preparations for Saturday's season opener against Murray State with a two-hour workout Wednesday afternoon.
Head Coach David Cutcliffe said he was happy with his team's focus as the Rebels worked on different offensive and defensive situations in anticipation of facing the Racers. Cutcliffe especially noted the sharpness of the passing game.
"I thought it was a really good day," Cutcliffe said, who is entering his third full season at Ole Miss. "We worked on a lot of different situations. Today, I thought our quarterbacks and receivers had their best day, and that's what you want to see at this time."
Cutcliffe said the team will spend the next two days putting the final preparations in place and getting mentally prepared for Saturday's kickoff.
"Thursday will be somewhat of a dress rehearsal for the ball game," Cutcliffe said. "We'll go through all situations to see if we're ready and know what we're doing. Most of it's team focus at this point in time, and Friday will be a walk through, going through substitutions and last-minute reminders. More importantly, we'll start getting into the mental preparation."
Saturday's kickoff with Murray State is scheduled for 6 p.m, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.
