OXFORD, Miss. -- - The Ole Miss volleyball team will play Memphis Monday at 7 p.m. at the Elma Roane Field House in Memphis. Due to the events of this week and the cancellation of all weekend activities, the volleyball team decided to schedule an area team, as they get ready for conference play next weekend.

"Life does go on, and we feel that it is in the best interest of the team to begin moving in that direction," head coach John Blair said. "With conference matches beginning next weekend, we tried to schedule a team from around here to help us get ready for the SEC. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the nation and the families who have been affected by this tragedy."

The Lady Rebels were scheduled to participate in the Diet Coke Classic in Minnesota this weekend, but elected not to go, prior to the cancellation of all weekend events in the SEC. Ole Miss takes a 2-5 record into Monday's match with Memphis. The Lady Rebels finished second at the Magnolia Invitational, in their last action. Senior outside hitter Jaime Burns leads Ole Miss with an average of 3.67 kills per game.

Memphis is 7-0 on the season. In their last action, the Lady Tigers defeated LaSalle, Robert Morris, Kent State and Cornell to capture the Kent State Tournament title. The Lady Tigers are led by senior outside hitter Ginger Garrett, who is averaging 4.29 kills per game.

Following the match against Memphis, the Lady Rebels will open the SEC schedule at Alabama, Sept. 21.
