JONESBORO, Ark. - ,Sophomore Kendrick Triggs and junior Willisa Heintz both set new meet records in leading Ole Miss at the Arkansas State Invitational on Sunday. The Rebels took first place as a team with 128.5 points, while the Lady Rebels finished second with 98 points. Southwest Missouri State won the women's team competition with 112.5 points.

Triggs took first place with his NCAA automatic qualifying time of 20.93 in the 200 meters. Triggs' time shattered the previous meet record of 21.60 held by Samuel of Boateng of Alabama since 1993.

Heintz was just as impressive as she claimed two first place finishes and meet records. Heintz won the 55 meters with a time of 6.96, breaking Denise Weeks of Arkansas-Little Rock's meet record of 6.99. Weeks set the record in 1997. Heintz was not done there, though, as she also won the 200 meters in a new meet record time of 24.19. In the 200 meters, Heintz broke Stephany Saleem of Murray State's 12-year record of 24.23.

Freshman Antwon Hicks claimed two first place finishes for the Rebels. Hicks, a Hot Springs, Ark., native, won the high jump (6-9.75) and the 55-meter hurdles (7.48). Junior James Shelton claimed a first place finish in the 55 meters (6.24), while Triggs placed third (6.33) and freshman Chris Lawson placed fourth (6.34) in the same event.

Junior Jimmy Radford finished second among collegiate pole vaulters with his height of 15-5.75. Junior Stacy Andrews finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 55-9.25. Freshman Shantel Glass took second in the long jump with a distance of 23-7.5, and Lawson finished right behind him with a distance 23-3.75.

Senior Hank Campbell finished third in the mile run (4:19.55), junior Matt Carter finished third in the 5,000 meters (15:57.88), senior Marcus Christoffersen finished third in the 800 meters (1:57.25), junior Walt Sligh finished third in the shot put (50-7.5) and freshman Brandon Atkinson finished third in the triple jump (46-0).

Freshman Octavia Carter took home first place in the high jump with a height of 5-6, while teammate freshman Kesia Bass finished second with the same distance. Bass also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 17-11.75.

Junior Amanda Harvey finished third in the weight throw (44-1.5) and senior Chika Chuku finished second in the 800 meters (2:13.85).

Ole Miss will return to the track on Friday, Feb. 1, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Cornhusker Invitational.
