OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 5 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team will host Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center in their final tuneup before taking on 14th-ranked Mississippi State Thursday night in Jackson.
The Rebels started the season on the right foot, by downing Arkansas-Little Rock 6-1 last week. Ole Miss dominated in doubles claiming all three positions and then won in convincing fashion in singles.
Louisiana-Monroe's tennis season opened with a two match sweep with the Indians beating both Alcorn State and Delta State by the identical score of 7-0 on Sunday. The Indians are a young team with six freshmen and only one returnee.
Ole Miss downed ULM 7-0 last year in Oxford.
The Rebels are preparing for the fifth annual River Hills Mississippi Cup against Mississippi State, to be played Thursday in Jackson at the River Hills Tennis Club. For tickets to the event, which will start at 5 p.m., fans can call (601) 987-4438. Ole Miss has won seven in a row in the hotly-contested series.
