OXFORD, Miss. - Although Saturday's Ole Miss-Florida game has already drawn sellout status, Rebel athletic officials announced Tuesday that a limited number of standing room only tickets are being offered for $25.00 each.
"We are making these standing room only tickets available for behind the top row in the south end zone," said Sans Russell, assistant athletic director for ticket operations. Tickets may be purchased at the athletic ticket office in the C. M. "Tad" Smith Coliseum or online at bruiser.olemiss.edu/ato. Phone orders are also being accepted at 1-888-732-8587 or 662-915-7167.
"We will be unable to mail any of these tickets," Russell said. "All tickets not picked up at the athletic ticket office by 4:00 p.m. Friday will be available for pick up at the Rebel Shop ticket office next to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium beginning at 8:00 a.m. Saturday."
Following the recent Vaught-Hemingway Stadium expansion, seating capacity is now listed at 60,580. Ole Miss set a new attendance mark of 58,151 in the season opening win over Louisiana-Monroe, which represented the largest on-campus crowd to ever view a football game in the State of Mississippi.
With Saturday's game, which will be televised nationally by CBS, set for an 11:10 a.m. kickoff, Ole Miss officials are urging fans to arrive on campus early. The traditional walk through The Grove by the Ole Miss team is set for approximately 8:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss officials have announced that all West bound traffic from University Avenue onto campus will close beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
University Police Department Chief Randy Corban said a road block will be set at University Avenue and Old Taylor Road beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Only vehicles with special or handicap parking passes around the stadium will be allowed through the checkpoint.
The closure affects vehicles traveling west bound from University Avenue and vehicles exiting onto Old Taylor Road from Highway 6. UPD officials request vehicles arriving after 9:30 a.m. access the campus from the Coliseum Drive exit off Highway 6 or West Jackson Avenue.
Corban said the measure is being enacted for pedestrian safety. Officials estimate over 60,000 people will be on campus Saturday for the Ole Miss-Florida football game.
