Lady Rebel Golfers Finish Third at Beacon Woods Invitational

BAYONET PT., Fla. - The Ole Miss women's golf team just missed claiming its second straight Beacon Woods Invitational title, carding a final-round 300 to finish third out of 13 teams. The Lady Rebels totaled a 300-295-300-895 in their second event of the fall.
Ole Miss, who was tied for first after day one, placed four players in the top 10 led by senior Bernadette Luse. The Orlando native tied for seventh with a 74-74-74-222 in registering her second career top-10 finish.
Laura Evans, a freshman from Dalton, Ga., turned in a 75-73-75-223, good for 12th place and her first collegiate top-20 performance. Sophomore Nikki Hadd from Crestview, Fla., and freshman Sarah Kate Cousart from Athens, Ga., both finished two strokes back with a three-day total of 225 to tie for 16th.
Senior Kerrie Davis tied for 38th with a 235 to round out the Lady Rebel five. Brooke Hixon and Lori Cate competed as individuals and closed out with 239 and 242, respectively.
The 6,015-yard Beacon Woods Country Club saw Tulane claim first-place honors for the weekend with a 300-284-280-864, led by individual champion Carolin Landmann, who fired a final-round tourney-low 67. Host South Florida managed second in the team standings with an 888.
Ole Miss returns to action Nov. 1-3 in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the Florida International Invitational.
