GREENVILLE, S.C. - Nikki Hadd posted her best finish of the season, tying for 11th overall with a score of 74-75-73-222, to help push the Ole Miss women's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational over the weekend.
The finish is the best finish on the season for the Lady Rebels, who competed at the Furman University Golf Club, a pat-72, 5,938-yard course.
"It was a great weekend for the entire team," said head coach Meghan Bolger. "We needed this weekend to move up in the rankings in our region. Everyone played fairly solid golf. This is what we have been waiting for, and hope to continue playing the way we are and continue to get better."
Hadd, a sophomore on the Ole Miss squad, finished out the tournament strong after two days of consistent play. The final round score of 73 is the lowest of the season for the sophomore and the No. 11 finish is not only the best of the season, but the best of her career at Ole Miss. Hadd's previous best had been a finish at 16th at the Beacon Woods Invitational earlier this season.
"Nikki played awesome all season," Bolger said. "She has really stepped it up and matured a lot in her game and her attitude. Everything about her golf game is coming around. This finish is more than well deserved as she and the whole team have been practicing very hard."
Team captain and senior Bernadette Luse turned in the second best finish of the day for the Ole Miss squad, as the Orlando, Fla., native carded a 76-74-75-225 to tie for the No. 23 spot for the event. Freshman Laura Evans finished in the No. 34 spot with a three day score of 78-75-76-229.
Freshman Sarah Kate Cousart finished the tournament in the No. 67 spot after a strong start as the Athens, Ga., native fired a three-round score of 75-79-85-239, while senior Kerrie Davis rounded out the scoring for the Lady Rebels with an 85-81-77-243 to finish in the No. 73 spot overall.
Ole Miss will have two days off before returning to the road to close out the fall portion of the season in the Florida International Tournament being held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Lady Rebels will play a three day tournament there Nov. 1-3, 2002.
