OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss junior defensive back Marcus Woodson of Moss Point, Miss., underwent surgery here Wednesday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

"The surgery by Dr. Ed Field went well and Marcus is doing good," said Ole Miss head trainer Tim Mullins. "Marcus will remain in the Surgery Center at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi until tomorrow."

Woodson, who suffered the season-ending injury September 7 against Memphis, has been plagued by injuries over the past two years. He missed 2002 spring drills due to shoulder surgery.

A two-year letterman, Woodson started three games at strong safety last season, but missed five games due to the shoulder injury. Woodson played in 11 of 12 games in 2000 after being redshirted in 1999.
