OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss inked its third softball player of the early signing period on Monday, receiving a national letter of intent from Brittany Warner of Vancouver, Wash.
A 5-6, lefthanded catcher, Warner guided Prairie High School team to two state tournament appearances, including a fifth-place finish in 2001. She is a three-time all-conference honoree and the 2002 most valuable player. A WIAA Scholastic Achievement Award recipient, Warner also helped her summer team, Glacier NW Gold, to a seventh-place showing at the 2002 ASA Gold National Championships.
"Brittany is an extremely athletic player, " said Rebel head coach Candi Letts. "She brings depth at catching as well as anywhere else on the field. She is a power hitter with good speed, and should be a tremendous addition to our team."
Warner joins a pair of southpaw pitchers -- Mary Jane Callahan from Muenster, Texas and Tara Willit from Okmulgee, Okla. -- that signed with the Rebels on Friday, and all three will be making their Ole Miss debuts during the 2003-04 season.
