GEEORGIA HEAD COACH SUE PATBERG
Tennessee played a great game, and just shut us down everywhere on the field. We had a hard time establishing a rhythm and attacking in numbers. Their midfield did a great job of shutting our midfield down and creating havoc in the midfield. They did an excellent job of winning the 50-50 balls.
(Difference in the two meetings between the two teams)
They defended much harder, won more 50-50 balls and compacted the field when we had the ball. Those are the biggest differences.
(On Tricia McKee's injury)
She does not have a broken ankle. That (when McKee went out) definitely hurt us. Tricia is a dynamic player and one that you have to mark. You just can't mark her with one defender, you have to use two. When she is out of the game, it makes us less dangerous.
TENNESSEE HEAD COACH ANGELA KELLY
It's always tough to beat a team twice in the same season, let alone twice in the same week. I have a great deal of respect for (Coach) Sue Patberg at Georgia. She always has her team well prepared. It was a battle overtime win last Friday, and we knew it was going to be a battle tonight. We made a few tactical changes for tonight's game, and that helped us. I'm proud of how we played. They played with composure and found open space. This game was one between two evenly-matched teams, and we were fortunate to come out on the winning end.
(On milestone of winning program's first SEC Tournament match)
I'm not really one for stats and my players know that. It's all about the kids and helping them develop as players, and I'm proud of them. They deserve the win, and they have worked extremely hard. We had a tough non-league schedule, and obviously our conference is very dynamic. We're excited to be able to play another game this weekend.
(On team's defensive play)
I thought our defense was tremendous. Our defense maintained pressure on Georgia, and didn't make any mistakes in the back. They covered very well. Georgia has three strong front-runners, and we did a good job of closing them down.
