No. 16 Ole Miss Set To Host No. 14 LSU

OXFORD, Miss. - No. 16 Ole Miss will host No. 14 LSU in a three-game Southeastern Conference series beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m., at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Game two of the series will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and Sunday's series finale will also be at 1:30 p.m.
All three games this weekend can be heard on stations along the Ole Miss Radio Network.
Both the Rebels and Tigers are looking to rebound after a tough opening weekend of SEC play. LSU dropped two-of-three at home to Vanderbilt, while Ole Miss was swept in a three-game set at Florida.
The Tigers have dropped three in a row overall after losing 7-0 at Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday. The Rebels snapped their skid at three games with a 7-2 win over Southern Miss on Tuesday.
Junior right-hander J.R. Pickens, 3-1, 2.68 ERA, will start Friday's game for Ole Miss. Senior right-hander Pete Montrenes (5-1, 4.60) is slated to start Saturday with freshman right-hander Alan Horne (0-1, 7.11) scheduled to pitch Sunday.
LSU is scheduled to counter with junior right-hander Bo Pettit (2-2, 3.21) on Friday, followed by sophomore lefty Lane Mestepey (3-2, 3.43) on Saturday and junior right-hander Jake Tompkins (2-0, 3.34) on Sunday.
The Rebels enter the weekend series ranked second in the SEC in batting with a team average of .345. Freshman outfielder Seth Smith is third in the conference with a .475 average, and junior shortstop Chad Sterbens ranks 10th, batting at a .412-clip. Ole Miss is 10th in the SEC in team ERA at 4.85.
LSU ranks 10th in the SEC in batting with a .284 average, but is fourth in the conference in ERA with a team ERA of 3.76.
