Men's Tennis Begins Three-Match Homestand With Tulane

The No. 5 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team will begin a three-match homestand Tuesday with No. 28 Tulane. The GreenWave and the Rebels will square off at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center or at the Gillom Sports Center incase of inclement weather.

Ole Miss enters the match with a 11-3 record. The Rebels, winners of five in a row, defeated Memphis 4-3 in their last action. Sophomore Claes Lindholm rallied to win his match at No. 5 singles to clinch the victory. Also in that win, senior Martin Selin recorded his 70th career victory.

"This is a huge week for us, beginning with a solid Tulane team," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "Then we host the No.1 team in the country, Georgia, followed by the 2001 NCAA Finalist, Tennessee. We want to encourage all fans to come out and support the Rebels and see some of the best college tennis in the country.

Tulane comes into the match with an identical record of 11-3. They went 2-1 in the Blue-Gray Collegiate Men's Tennis Classic in their last action. The GreenWave beat Fresno State 4-0 in the first round and then lost to No. 2 Illinois 4-0 in the second round. They closed out action with a 4-2 win over South Alabama.

The GreenWave are led by 18th-ranked Michael Kogan at No. 1 singles and 59th-ranked Victor Romero at No. 2 singles. Their No. 1 doubles team of Kogan and Romero is ranked No. 8 in the nation.

Following Tuesday's match, the Rebels will host defending NCAA Champion Georgia on Friday at 1 p.m. and then 13th-ranked Tennessee on Sunday at 2 p.m.
