OXFORD, Miss. - Defense dominated a 45-play scrimmage here Tuesday afternoon as Coach David Cutcliffe sent his Ole Miss Rebels through a two-hour practice session.
"I thought the defense got better as the day went on," Cutcliffe said. "We wanted to create some situations during the scrimmage that would test both sides of the ball. The number one defense really responded when we backed the offense up. We had one part of the scrimmage where we played overtime, and I thought that went well."
Cutcliffe said it was important for the team to stay healthy this week, which will see two more practices before breaking for Easter. "This is a big week for us and we need to see how we respond Thursday afternoon and Friday morning."
Following Easter break, Ole Miss will practice twice next week before ending spring drills here Saturday, April 6 with the annual "Grove Bowl" Red-Blue game. Kick-off for the spring game is set for 6:00 p.m. in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
