OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss takes its record-tying nine-game winning streak into Auburn this weekend for a three-game SEC softball set on the Plains. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's series finale are set for noon CST each day, and the finale will be televised nationally on FOX Sports Net.

The series marks the first SEC Western Division action for both teams. Ole Miss swept Kentucky at home last weekend to even its league mark at 3-3, and now looks to notch another school record winning streak for consecutive conference victories. The Rebels have never won more than four straight SEC games.

Ole Miss is wrapping up the finest two-month period in the softball program's six-year history. With Tuesday's sweep of Jackson State, Ole Miss reached the 20-win plateau, at 20-8, faster than any previous UM team.

The Rebels are off to their best start ever and posting offensive totals unprecedented by an Ole Miss squad. The single-season school record for homers fell after only 17 games, and now the season highs for runs (35 away) and RBI (27 away) are easily in sight.

On Tuesday, the Rebels set or tied UM single-game records for hits, runs, homers and RBI in the game two 20-0 shellacking of JSU, which also gave Ole Miss its school record-tying ninth straight triumph.

One of the keys to the Rebels' recent success has been the emergence of Nicole Alger. The freshman from Tulsa, Okla., has led the squad during the streak, batting .577 with five doubles, two homers and 12 RBI over the last nine games. She has also recorded a 2-0 record on the mound with a 0.58 ERA and a shutout.

After starting 20-7, Auburn (23-15, 2-7 SEC) has won only three of its last 11 and sits at the bottom of the SEC West standings entering the weekend. However the Tigers bounced back from sweeps to Georgia and Arkansas to earn a 2-1 series win at Florida this week.

Freshman Sara Dean provided AU's offensive spark vs. the Gators, batting 6-for-10 with a home run and seven RBI in the series. Dean and All-American outfielder Ashley Moore have guided the Tiger attack this season, batting .364 and .319 respectively with 20 RBI apiece.

Sunday's game marks both teams' first televised game of the year. Ole Miss dropped its lone TV game a year ago, losing at Florida on SEC-TV.
