OXFORD, Miss. - A full day of activities await Ole Miss fans planning to attend Saturday's "Grove Bowl" when Coach David Cutcliffe's Rebels conclude spring football drills for 2002.

Sponsored by the M-Club Chapter of the University of Mississippi Alumni Association with proceeds going to the J. W. "Wobble" Davidson Scholarship Fund, kickoff for the annual Red-Blue Game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field is set for 6:00 p.m. This year marks the first time for the Red-Blue game at Ole Miss to be played at night.

"We spent a lot of time attempting to make the teams equal and the game should be really competitive," said Cutcliffe. "You can find out a lot about your young players if you set your match-ups right. We are expecting an outstanding crowd and the fans should enjoy the game."

Ole Miss officials are hoping to break two attendance records on Saturday. The current record for a spring football game at Ole Miss is 25,000, which was set in 1978, while the record for a home baseball game at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field is 6,486, set in 1995 against Georgia. Last year's spring game drew 17,500.

Admission for the Red-Blue game is $10 each with all seats general admission. Ole Miss students will be admitted free upon presentation of their valid University I.D. card.

Ole Miss faculty and staff will also be admitted free upon presentation of their University I.D. card, but they are being asked to pick up their tickets at the Athletic Ticket Office in the Tad Smith Coliseum by 4:00 p.m. Friday.

"Grove Bowl" tickets will be sold Saturday morning in The Grove, beginning at 11:00 a.m., while tickets will be on sale, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at the Rebel Shop Ticket Office, located next to the stadium on All-America Drive.

Football tickets will also be sold at the baseball stadium Saturday afternoon, plus they are currently being sold at Abner's and Dixie Creek restaurants in Oxford.

Although construction at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is still in progress, seating for Saturday's football game will be on the East and West sides. However, the Rebel Club on the East side will not be open.

Entry at the stadium will be through gates 6, 7, 8, and 9 on the West side and gates 17 and 18 on the East side. Stadium gates will open Saturday afternoon at 4:30. No reserved parking will be available for the Red-Blue Game.

Activities begin in The Grove at 11:00 a.m. when the Food Court opens. A free concert by the legendary Three Dog Night, who have recorded seven No. 1 singles and sold over 50 million records, takes place on The Grove Stage at 4:00 p.m. Three Dog Night will also perform at halftime of the football game, featuring "Celebrate," "Eli's Coming," "Joy to the World," and "Black and White."

The 2002 Rebel football team will conduct its traditional "Walk of Champions" through The Grove at 3:45 p.m., walking from the Union to the Starnes Athletic Training Center.

Prior to the football game, Coach Mike Bianco's Rebels will host the Vanderbilt Commodores at 1:30 at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Admission to the Southeastern Conference baseball clash is $5 for adults and $2 high school students and under. Upon presentation of their University I.D., Ole Miss students are admitted free for grandstand seating and right field seating.

The Rebels and Commodores, who open their three-game series here Friday night at 7:00, will conclude the series Sunday afternoon with first pitch at 1:30.

Also on tap at 1:00 p.m. Saturday is an SEC softball doubleheader at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Coach Candi Letts' Rebels will face the Florida Gators in the first two games of a three-game series. Admission is free. The series finale is set for Sunday afternoon at 1:00.

The opening athletic event Saturday is the Rebel Soccer Spring Classic, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Ole Miss soccer stadium, located behind the Gillom Sports Center of Coliseum Drive.

The nationally ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team will also be in SEC action over the week-end as Coach Mark Beyers' Lady Rebels will host Arkansas Friday afternoon and then LSU Sunday afternoon. Both matches at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center begin at 1:00.
