Men's Tennis Defeats Arkansas 5-2

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The No. 5 ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team defeated 18th-ranked Arkansas 5-2 Friday afternoon at the UA Indoor/Outdoor Complex. The win improved the Rebels to 14-4 overall and 6-3 in the SEC, while Arkansas (13-6, 3-6) saw its five-match win streak come to an end.
Ole Miss got on board first by winning the doubles point. The Rebels took the No. 2 and 3 positions by the score of 8-4 to claim the point. Arkansas won at No. 1 doubles, 9-7. Ole Miss is now 11-0 when they win the doubles point.
After winning the doubles point, the Hogs picked up wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions to get back in the match temporarily. All-American Alex Hartman ranked No. 17 in the nation was sick coming into the match. After splitting sets with 32nd-ranked Oggie Kolev 6-3, 6-7, Hartman retired. Senior Kristofer Stahlberg lost his third match in a row, falling to Nathan Price 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
The rest of the day belonged to the Rebels, who got straight-set wins down the lineup for the victory. Freshman Catalin Gard downed Aleksey Bubis 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Claes Lindholm dominated Oscar Ohlsson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Senior Martin Selin won his seventh match in a row at No. 4 singles, defeating Eduardo Pacheco 7-6, 6-4. He is now 8-1 at the position and has won nine of his last 10. Paul Ciorascu beat Tiago Azevedo 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5 singles.
Ole Miss concludes the road trip with a match against LSU Sunday at 1 p.m.
