OXFORD, Miss. - Lindsay Price and Leslie Day, both junior pitchers for the Ole Miss softball team, have been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VI Softball Team. Price earned first team distinction, while Day garnered second team honors.
Price was one of only two district selections with a 4.0 GPA, and she is now a candidate for Academic All-America status. The Biology major was also a member of the 2001 Verizon third team and recently made her second appearance on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
A native of Terry, Miss., Price matched her season high for victories in 2002 with five wins to go with a 2.91 ERA. She ranks top four in the Ole Miss career record book in appearances, complete games, strikeouts, innings-pitched and ERA.
Day maintains a 3.22 GPA in Exercise Science, while leading the Rebel pitching staff in every category. The Nesbit, Miss., native captured Team MVP as well as Most Improved Player honors this year, compiling a 1.80 ERA, 10 wins and three shutouts.
The righthanded duo helped the 2002 Rebels post a school-record low team ERA (2.16) and a 25-29 overall mark, registering the best single-season winning percentage in Ole Miss fastpitch history.
