OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss freshman outfielder Seth Smith was named a second team Freshman All-America by Baseball America magazine Wednesday.

Smith, the 2002 SEC Freshman of the Year, led the Rebels this past spring with a .402 batting average to set a new school freshman record. He also hit four home runs and drove in 52 runs, which established a new Ole Miss freshman mark for RBIs.

"This is another great honor for Seth," said Ole Miss Head Coach Mike Bianco. "He had a tremendous freshman season, and we're obviously excited about the future with Seth. He's very deserving of all the honors he's received this season."

In addition to being the SEC's Freshman of the Year, Smith was also a first team All-SEC pick, and earlier this month, he garnered first team Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
