OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss worked strictly on special teams for an hour and 45 minutes Saturday morning and will now turn its attention to next Saturday's season opener against Louisiana-Monroe.
The Rebels covered all aspects of the kicking game before finishing practice with wind sprints. Head coach David Cutcliffe was pleased with his team's focus during the practice session.
"I thought it was really good work," Cutcliffe said. "There wasn't any phase or situation that wasn't covered physically or mentally today. We had good meeting time this morning, and I thought their mental focus was outstanding."
Ole Miss will have a day off from practice on Sunday before returning to the practice field on Monday. Cutcliffe said the team is looking forward to getting into gameweek preparations.
"I think for everyone involved with football, it's an exciting time when its hits gameweek," Cutcliffe said. "Certainly, there will be some enthusiasm on the practice field come Monday."
Next Saturday's season opener with Louisiana-Monroe is scheduled for 6 p.m., at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.
