OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team will travel to Lexington, Ky. to compete in the Charles Fluitt Invitational Sept. 27-29. Due to rain, this year's event has been moved to the Hilary J. Boon Indoor Tennis Center and the Kentucky Tennis Academy. There will be three flights of competition including a ranked flight and two singles flights.
Among those representing the Rebels will be senior Alex Hartman, ranked 19th nationally in the ITA Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis rankings. This will be the first action of the fall season for Hartman, who was sidelined last weekend due to injuries.
Junior Paul Ciorascu (no. 69) and sophomore Catalin Gard (no. 67) will look to follow up their impressive individual showings at Middle Tennessee, in which both took first place in their respective flights. Ciorascu, Gard, and Hartman will take part in the ranked flight, made up of players currently ranked in the top 100 ITA rankings as well as those ranked at some point in their career. Redshirt freshman David Donaldson will be making his fall 2002 debut for the Rebels as he competes in the B Flight singles bracket.
Ole Miss will be one of nine schools represented in the three day event, including Alabama, Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Morehead State, Tulane, Vanderbilt and host Kentucky.
