Ole Miss Leads Rebel Softball Fall Classic After Day One

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss recorded a perfect 3-0 mark Saturday to sit in first place of the Rebel Softball Fall Classic after day one. The tournament wraps up Sunday with a full slate of games beginning at 9 a.m. CST at Ole Miss Softball Complex.
The Rebels notched a pair of wins over Mississippi University for Women and one over Christian Brothers led by Andrea Brahs. The junior from Boynton, Fla., singled in two runs in the 6-2 triumph over CBU, and followed up with a 2-for-3, three RBI performance in the 4-1 afternoon victory over MUW. Including a single in the 4-0 blanking of the Blues in the late game, and Brahs batted 4-for-7 on the day.
The early morning matchup with Christian Brothers saw Britte Hardy and DeDe Justice collect two hits apiece, while Phyllis Manley drove in a couple runs. Senior Leslie Day, last year's team MVP, held the Lady Buccaneers to five hits in the successful complete-game outing.
Fourth-year Rebel Lindsay Price went the distance in the 4-1 MUW win, striking out six Blues players. Sophomore Brooke Turner pitched in on offense with two hits and two runs.
Turner continued her hot hitting in the second MUW matchup, batting 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Jenny Cox and Mandy Ott also added a pair of singles apiece. UM rookie Dana Brill was dominant in her first collegiate action on the mound as she limited the Blues to five hits with 10 strikeouts in the complete shutout.
West Alabama, who battled past CBU 2-1, and Jackson State, who bested MUW 9-5, each sit second in the tourney standings with a 1-1 mark. The Blues are 1-2 followed by the Lady Bucs at 0-2.
