Baseball Releases 2003 Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss released its 2003 baseball schedule Wednesday, highlighted by 34 home dates at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field this spring.
The Rebels are scheduled to open their season under head coach Mike Bianco at home on Friday, Feb. 14 against Louisiana Tech. Ole Miss' first SEC series is scheduled for March 14-16 against Kentucky in Oxford.
Ole Miiss is scheduled to play nine schools that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament, including College World Series participants Rice and South Carolina. The Rebels will play the Owls in the Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22, and later host the Gamecocks, the College World Series runner-ups, in a three-game Southeastern Conference series in Oxford, April 25-27.
Other NCAA Tournament teams on the Rebels' schedule: SW Missouri State and Stetson, and SEC-foes LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Auburn. SW Missouri State (Feb. 19), Alabama (April 18-20), and Florida (May 9-11) are scheduled to make visits to Oxford, while the Rebels will face Stetson (Feb. 23) at the Crowne Plaza/Rice Invitational, and travel to LSU (April 11-13), Arkansas (May 2-4) and Auburn (May 16-18) in SEC play.
Ole Miss will play in-state rival Mississippi State four times in a six-game stretch from March 28-April 2. The Rebels will host the Bulldogs in a three-game SEC series, March 28-30, before the two teams will meet in the 24th Mayor's Trophy game on April 2 at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson.
The Rebels will play a home-and-home with Southern Miss, with the Golden Eagles coming to Oxford on Feb. 25, and the Rebels visiting on April 9.
Ole Miss will also once again play the University of Memphis at AutoZone Park, the home of the AAA Memphis Redbirds. That game is scheduled for March 12.
