OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South granted the wish of 11-year-old Greg of Ward, Ark., prior to the October 25 Ole Miss-Arkansas game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
When asked, "If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?," he said, " I want to go to on the Disney Cruise with my family!" Greg was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation after being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness*.
Greg loves playing football, and much to his surprise, Greg and his family met Make-A-Wish volunteers at the University of Arkansas, where he also met the Razorbacks team and travelled with them to Oxford. However, the surprises didn't end there. During pre-game of the Ole Miss-Arkansas game, Greg's wish to go on the Disney Cruise was made a reality, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Make-A-Wish volunteers and the Ole Miss student body.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Its headquarters are located in Memphis, Tenn., with field offices in Little Rock and Fort Smith, Ark., and covers the territories of Arkansas, West Tennessee, and North Mississippi.
"Some ways to help Make-A-Wish include cash donations, workplace giving, hosting special events or fundraisers, scheduled giving, in-kind donations, and memorials," said Ole Miss Assistant Athletics Director for Internal Affairs. "As a volunteer, you can also become involved in the wish granting process or help out during a special event.
