Collins entered today's game as the school's career leader in receptions, 100-yard receiving games and TD receptions.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

  • Ole Miss held South Carolina to three plays-and-out on the Gamecocks' first offensive series of the game as the Rebels have not allowed an opponent to score on its opening series in 8-of-9 games this season. Memphis is the only team to score on Ole Miss on its opening series this season, as the Tigers took advantage of a recovered fumble to go 26 yards in three plays for a touchdown in the Sept. 6 game at the Liberty Bowl.
  • The Rebels recorded two sacks today to extend their streak to 24 straight games with at least one sack. Ole Miss has also registered at least one QB sack in 41 of its last 42 games.
  • Sophomore DT McKinley Boykin and senior DE Josh Cooper were both credited with a half-sack on the safety in the second quarter when South Carolina QB Dondrial Pinkins was called for intentionally grounding in the end zone. Unlike the NFL, NCAA guidelines allow for sacks to be credited to players who pressure a passer into intentionally grounding a pass.
  • The safety was the Rebels' second of the season. Ole Miss also recorded a safety against Alabama (10/18) when Crimson Tide QB Brodie Croyle recovered a fumbled snap in the end zone.
  • The 98-yard TD pass from Dondrial Pinkins to Matthew Thomas in the fourth quarter is believed to be the longest against Ole Miss in school history.
