OLE MISS POSTGAME NOTES

KEY STATS
- LSU held a 20:06 to 9:54 advantage in time of possession in the first half, including controlling the ball for 10:07 in the second quarter.
- The Tigers finished the game with a 35:49 to 24:11 advantage in TOP.
- The Rebels were held to season lows for offensive plays (57), total yards (227) and points (14).
- Ole Miss was held to 4-of-15 on third down conversions this afternoon. During their six-game win streak, Ole Miss had converted on 50.6 percent of its third downs (44x87).
- Junior PK Jonathan Nichols missed field goal attempts of 47 and 36 yards after entering today's game 23-of-24 for the season. He missed the 36 yarder with 4:15 left in the game that would have tied the score at 17-17.
SERIES NOTES
- This afternoon's game was the 92nd meeting between Ole Miss and LSU dating back to 1894.
- The Tigers now lead the series 51-37-4 and have won three of the last four meetings since 2000.
- LSU is now 6-4-1 all-time versus the Rebels in Oxford.
- This afternoon's game was the first between the two teams when both were ranked since 1970 when No. 6 LSU defeated No. 16 Ole Miss 61-17. Archie Manning, father of current Ole Miss senior QB Eli Manning, was the Rebels' quarterback.
HOTTY TODDY: Today's pregame"Hotty Toddy" cheer on the jumbotron was led by actor Russell Crowe, of Gladiator fame. At halftime, the cheer was led by Commander Mike Foale of Manchester, England, but now a United States citizen and astronaut. Foale was joined by Engineer Alexander Kaleri, a cosmonaut for the Russian Space Agency. Foale and Kaleri are currently aboard the International Space Station.
TEAM NOTES
- Today's attendance of 62,552 set a new Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field record, eclipsing the previous mark of 61,140 set last year against Florida.
- Today's game versus LSU marked the highest ranked opponent to visit Oxford since No. 1 Florida defeated the Rebels 38-14 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Oct. 1, 1994.
- A total of 487 press credentials were issued for this afternoon's game, including requests by CBS.
- This afternoon's game marked the final home game for 21 Ole Miss seniors. The 2003 Class has a four-year record of 29-18 (.617 winning pct .) through today's game.
- Today's 17-14 loss snapped the Rebels' six-game win streak, which was their longest since winning seven straight in 1990.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- Ole Miss was forced to punt on its opening possession, snapping the Rebels' string of eight straight games in which they scored on their opening offensive series. Ole Miss has now scored on its opening offensive series in 8-of-11 games this season.
- Senior WR Chris Collins caught three passes to extend his streak to 33 straight games with at least one reception, the second longest known streak in school history, behind Willie Green's 37-game streak.
- Junior WR Kerry Johnson caught two passes to now record a reception in 15 consecutive games.
- With 227 yards of total offense today, the Rebels set a new school record for total offense in a season. Ole Miss now has 4,823 yards of offense through 11 games to break the mark of 4,663 set last season in 13 games. The Rebels entered today's game 67 yards shy of last year's total.
- The Rebels were held to 27 yards rushing on 21 carries. It is Ole Miss' lowest output since gaining only four yards in last year's loss at Alabama.
- The Rebels' 10 first downs marked the fewest since recording only seven in a 17-0 loss to Auburn in 1998.
- Ole Miss was held to under 300 yards of total offense (227) for the first time since last year's 24-12 win over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, when the Rebels recorded 297.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Sophomore CB Travis Johnson's six-yard interception return for a TD on LSU's first series was his second interception return for a TD this season. He also returned a pick 45 yards for a score against Louisiana-Monroe (9/13).
- Johnson's interception was the Rebel defense's first takeaway since the fourth quarter against Arkansas (10/25), snapping a string of eight straight quarters without forcing a turnover.
- Johnson's interception return for a TD was the third by Ole Miss this season. In addition to Johnson' two TDs off interceptions, Kelvin Robinson returned an interception 80 yards for a score versus Texas Tech.
- Ole Miss recorded three sacks to extend its streak to 27 straight games with at least one QB sack. The Rebels also have at least one sack in 44 of their last 45 games.
- Junior DT Daniel Booth registered his first career sack when he dropped Tiger QB Matt Mauck for a seven-yard loss in the second quarter.
- Sophomore DT Jayme Mitchell intercepted his first career pass in the second quarter.
- Ole Miss tied a season-high with three interceptions. The Rebels also picked off three passes in the 20-17 win at Florida on Oct. 4.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Junior P Cody Ridgeway had two punts of over 50 yards to extend his streak to seven straight games with at least one punt of 50 yards.
- Junior PK Jonathan Nichols made both of his PAT attempts to extend his school-record streak to 90 consecutive PATs made.
