NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman guard Armintie Price's double-double led the Ole Miss Lady Rebels to a 78-62 non-conference win over the Belmont Bruins Tuesday night at the Curb Event Center.
Price scored 21 points and grabbed 13 boards coming off the bench. Starting guards Carletta Brown and Genice Terry added 18 and 16 points, respectively, as three Ole Miss players scored in double figures.
Brown's three-pointer gave Ole Miss (2-1) a 44-35 lead with 11:46 remaining, but Belmont (0-2) would use a 12-4 run, capped by back-to-back treys by Hollie Davis to pull within 48-47 with 10:08 left.
The Lady Rebels would then use a 17-3 spurt to build a 65-50 advantage with 4:26 to go.
"I thought we really picked up our intensity level and turned in a better effort in the second half," said Ole Miss head coach Carol Ross. "We much more aggressive in attacking the basket. Also, I thought we picked up on the defensive end after Belmont had closed the gap.
"Overall, I was pleased with our effort. We just need to continue to build on this."
The Lady Rebels finished the night shooting 37.5 percent from the field, making 24-of-64. Ole Miss hit on 46.9 percent in the second half.
Belmont made 18-of-59 shots to shot 30.5 percent from the field. The Bruins were also 14-of-41 behind the arc.
Ole Miss held a 49-38 advantage on the boards.
Davis led Belmont with 21 points and Jenny Conkle added 15.
The Lady Rebels will return to action Friday evening at the Memphis Thanksgiving Classic. Ole Miss will face Nebraska at 8p.m., in the first round before playing either Memphis or Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
