ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Ole Miss dropped a pair of close softball games Saturday in day two of the Triple Crown Classic. The Rebels fell to UCF, 5-4, and Southern Illinois, 3-1 to move to 3-3 on the year.

Ole Miss, who is 1-3 in tournament play, finishes up at the Triple Crown Classic Sunday against Jacksonville at 8:30 a.m. ET at Treaty Park.

Saturday's early game saw the Rebels jump out to an early lead behind Andrea Brahs. The sophomore from Boynton Beach, Fla., blasted a first-inning, three-run home run for her first round-tripper of the season. DeDe Justice also doubled in a run to supply a 4-0 UM lead after a half-inning.

However, UCF (5-4) responded immediately as Stephanie Best belted a three-run homer of her own in the bottom of the first. Jania Shinhoster and Rachelle Schmidt drove home two more runs in the second to give the Golden Knights their first lead, 5-4, and chase away Rebel starter Dana Brill, who was making her first collegiate start.

UCF hurler Taylor Sawyer made the one-run advantage stand, limiting Ole Miss to three hits and no runs after the first inning in securing the win. Leslie Day was strong in relief for the Rebels with only one hit surrendered and four strikeouts over the final four frames.

The opening frame was again the difference in the Ole Miss late game vs. Southern Illinois. The Salukis (4-0) plated two in the first inning, off a Katie Jordan two-run homer, and fended off the UM attack the rest of the way.

The Rebels threatened in the second inning when Jordan Chitwood singled home fellow freshman Stacy McCommon to narrow the gap to one. However, SIU's Andrea Hylla drove in a security run in the fourth, and Renee Mueller was potent on the mound with only four hits allowed in the victory.

Lindsay Price turned in her second straight quality start in a losing effort. The senior from Terry, Miss., surrendered only two earned runs with seven strikeouts in the complete-game outing.
