OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss redshirt freshman running back Jamal Pittman of Columbia, Miss., underwent surgery here Wednesday to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The surgery became necessary after Pittman was injured in a non-contact drill March 7.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Ed Field at the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi Surgery Center. Pittman is expected to be dismissed from the hospital Thursday morning.

"Jamal did well during the surgery and we expect a full recovery," said Ole Miss Head Athletic Trainer Tim Mullins. "His rehabilitation will begin immediately, but no time table for his return has been established."

After taking last week off for spring break, Ole Miss continued spring football drills this week. The annual Red-Blue spring game is set for Saturday, March 29 at 5:30 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.
