OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss takes a break from SEC play and travels to UT-Martin Wednesday for a softball doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for 2 p.m. CST at Bettye Giles Field.
The Rebels (12-18) are looking to break a three-game skid, having suffered their first SEC series sweep of the season last weekend to Auburn. Freshman Rebecca McIntire continued her hot hitting, notching her third multiple-hit game of conference play in game two.
A native of Chatsworth, Calif., McIntire collected three hits in the AU series and has risen to second on the team in batting for the season with a .303 average and 13 RBI. She is also the top defensive third baseman in the SEC with a .987 fielding percentage.
Despite a pair of losses on the mound, Lindsay Price extended her school-record streak of consecutive complete games to 12. The previous UM best was seven straight.
Price, a senior righthander from Terry, Miss., is making her final season in the Red and Blue her finest. She has already recorded her season-high for victories with five, including the first two seven-inning shutouts of her career.
She currently ranks top five in the conference in strikeouts and strikeouts-looking in all games as well as SEC games only.
UT-Martin (10-8) comes in as winners in five of their last six games and took 2-of-3 from Tennessee State last weekend in an Ohio Valley Conference series win. Junior outfielder Angela Baize leads the Skyhawks offensively with a .377 average and 10 RBI.
The duo of Nicole Davis and Kendra Kosco has formed an outstanding UTM pitching staff. Davis is 3-2 with a 1.09 ERA, while Kosco is 5-4 with a 1.45 average.
The Rebels lead the all-time series 3-0, including a 6-2 victory last year in Oxford. The two clubs have never faced off in Martin.
