OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss redshirt freshman running back Jamal Pittman of Columbia, Miss., suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) to his right knee here Thursday afternoon during a pre-scrimmage, non-contact drill. The extent of the injury was confirmed following an MRI to Pittman's knee.
"We have scheduled surgery for March 19," said Tim Mullins, Ole Miss head athletic trainer. "We're currently working on the swelling and his range of motion," Mullins added.
According to Mullins, Pittman's rehabilitation will begin immediately following surgery. "We have no definite time frame for Jamal's return," Mullins said.
Ole Miss got in another practice on Friday before taking off for spring break. Spring drills will continue Tuesday, March 18. The annual Red-Blue Game is set for Saturday, March 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium/Hollingsworth Field.
