BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss placed eight student-athletes on the 2003 SEC Softball Academic Honor Roll, as announced Wednesday by league commissioner Mike Slive. The Rebels tie for the second-most selections in the conference.
Senior pharmacy majors Lindsay Price of Terry, Miss., and Julie Baumann of Memphis earn their third award. Price, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA, is also a two-time Academic All-Region pick and a 2003 candidate for Academic All-American.
First-time honorees to the SEC Honor Roll include senior Leslie Day (Nesbit, Miss.), juniors Andrea Brahs (Boynton Beach, Fla.), Britte Hardy (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Desiree Layman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Megan Kozar (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.).
Also on the list was former Rebel Lindsay Whatley.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2002 SEC Softball Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2001-02 academic calendar.
