OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco announced Wednesday that sophomore right-hander Alan Horne will undergo ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery, otherwise known as Tommy John surgery, Thursday morning.

"Obviously, we are disappointed to be losing Alan for the rest of the year," Bianco said. "The rehab following this surgery is usually 9-to-12 months, so the good news is that we should have Alan for the start of next season."

Horne was 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances, including four starts, this season for the Rebels. He had also struck out 19 while walking seven in 25 2/3 innings pitched.

Ole Miss is 20-11 on the season entering Wednesday's game at Southern Miss. Following Wednesday's game, the Rebels will open a three-game series at LSU, Friday night at 7 p.m.
