OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco announced Tuesday that assistant coach Clint Carver has resigned from his position as the Rebels' hitting and outfielder coach in order to pursue other opportunities.
Carver finished his third season with the Rebels this past spring. During that time, he coached three All-Southeastern Conference performers, including first team selections in Burney Hutchinson (2001) and Seth Smith (2002). Smith also earned the SEC's Freshman of the Year Award in 2002.
As the team's hitting coach, he helped the Rebels set a school record for team batting average, with a .318 mark in 2002.
"We'd like to thank Coach Carver for all his contributions to the Ole Miss baseball program over the past three years," Bianco said. "He's been an intregal part of our success here."
Bianco said a search for a new assistant will begin immediately.
Ole Miss finished this past spring with a 35-27 record, earning an NCAA Regional berth.
