Women's Tennis To Play Two Matches Saturday At Home

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team will host Tennessee-Chattanooga and Troy State Saturday at the Gillom Sports Center. The Lady Rebels will take on the Lady Mocs at 10 a.m., followed by the Lady Trojans at 4 p.m.

The Lady Rebels opened the 2004 season last Sunday with a 7-0 win over Tennessee Tech. In that match, junior two-time All-American Chloe Carlotti made her debut with the Lady Rebels with a 6-1, 6-1 win over TTU's Marina Tasheva. The Lady Rebels did not drop a set in any of the singles matches and won the doubles point by a combined 24-4 score.

Tennessee-Chattanooga opens the 2004 season Friday at Memphis before coming to Ole Miss. The Lady Mocs posted a 13-10 record in 2003 and finished 6-3 in the Southern Conference. They are led by four seniors in the top six of their lineup.

Former assistant coach Tom Lowry, will make his debut as head coach of the Lady Mocs. He is assisted by Jason Ontog, who was coached by Lady Rebel assistant Whitt Taber, when he was an assistant coach at UTC.

Saturday's match will be the season-opener for Troy State, who posted an 11-4 record in 2003. They are led by senior Luisa Lopez, who went 11-5 at No. 1 singles last year and senior Carolina Aravena, who posted an 11-5 record at No. 2 singles.
