Rebels Finish Eighth In Walsh Rifle Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Team scores have been compiled for the 47th annual Walsh Rifle Match, which took place over three consecutive weekends in November and was hosted by Xavier University.
Ole Miss fired a total score of 6030 en route to an eighth-place finish in the 14-team competition. Alaska Fairbanks captured the event with a team score of 6249, while the host Musketeers placed second (6216), Murray State finished third (6192), Nebraska fourth (6172) and Tennessee Tech fifth (6148).
The Rebels recorded totals of 4519 in smallbore and 1511 in air rifle during the nine-day event. Alaska Fairbanks led the competition in smallbore (4708), while Xavier posted the field's best air rifle score (1556).
Ole Miss opens the spring portion of its 2003-04 slate with the UT-Martin Invitational Friday, Jan. 30.
