OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss (8-9, 1-5 SEC) came out tough and executing a solid game plan, but it wasn't able to withstand the pressure of 18th-ranked Tennessee (16-1, 6-0 SEC) as the Lady Rebels fell to the Lady Vols 3-0 (27-30, 19-30, 24-30).

The Lady Rebels fell below .500 for the first time this season with the loss.

Nikki Hill led the Ole Miss attack with eight kills, as she hit .351 for the day. Elena Garcia and Mary Nell Bennett led the squad with 10 digs each.

"We faced a good Tennessee team today and we did some good things at times," said Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin. "We're growing up, but we need to do that quicker. Our intensity was good and we built off Friday's performance. We got into trouble with our passing, and when you do that it's tough to win."

The Lady Rebels took the first point of the match after a long rally, but Tennessee answered with a cross-court kill that hit the back left corner of the court. Ole Miss would score again on a solid attack from Tricia Eble, but again Tennessee answered as the two teams traded blows. The Lady Rebels pushed ahead of the Lady Vols 5-2 with a run, but Tennessee answered with a run of its own to take an 8-7 lead.

Tennessee extended its lead to 14-8 as the run continued, and the Lady Vols held to at least a four-point advantage as Ole Miss continued to fight. The Lady Rebels had to call timeout as the lead pushed back out to 18-11.

Ole Miss cut back into the lead out of the break as the Lady Rebels altered the attack to take advantage of an aggressive Lady Vol presence at the net. But the Lady Vols didn't take too long to get back adjust, pushing back ahead by six at 20-14. The Lady Rebels were again forced into a timeout as the lead grew to 24-16 in favor of the visiting team.

The Lady Rebels fought back, rattling off an eight to one run to cut the lead to 29-27 and force the Lady Vols into a timeout. Tennessee closed out the first game on the next point 30-27.

The first points of the second game went the way of the Lady Vols, as Tennessee took a 2-0 lead before Ole Miss got on the board with a service error from UT. A service ace from Carroll tied the game at two, but Tennessee regrouped and pushed Ole Miss into a timeout at 8-3.

Ole Miss came back hard out of the break, but the Lady Vols continued to apply pressure to the Lady Rebels and held the advantage steady before surging ahead to a 20-12 lead and forcing Ole Miss into another timeout.

The Lady Rebels never got back into the game, falling in the second game 30-19.

Both squads came out aggressive in the third game, trading scores to open up the game. It wasn't long however, before Tennessee opened up an 8-2 lead and force Ole Miss into a timeout. The Lady Rebels cut into the lead, trimming it to 8-6 out of the break, but Tennessee surged back ahead from there to take an 11-6 lead.

Tennessee held the five-point edge before managing a slight run to push ahead 20-12. Ole Miss was forced into a timeout two points later when the Lady Vols took a 22-13 lead.

Ole Miss put together a run at the Lady Vols, scoring seven straight points to cut the lead to 26-21, but Tennessee responded and held on to claim the match with a 30-25 win in game three.

Ole Miss will return to the road this weekend, taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Sunday. The match will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.
