Lady Rebels Continue To Play On The Road At Kentucky

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss (8-10. 1-6 SEC) will continue to play on the road in Southeastern Conference play this weekend, traveling to take on the Wildcats of Kentucky (10-7, 1-5 SEC) at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Rebels are coming off a 3-0 loss at the hands of Mississippi State and looking to snap a three game losing streak in SEC play since upsetting LSU on the road two weeks ago.
Kentucky will face the same Mississippi State Bulldogs in a televised match on Friday before facing the Lady Rebels on Sunday.
Kristen Carroll will be looked to for leadership on the attack, as the sophomore leads the squad in kills on the season, tallying 176 so far this year. She will be backed up by senior outside hitter Elena Garcia, who has turned in a solid all-around performance this season with 110 kills and leads the team in digs with 214.
Tricia Eble has been anchoring the Ole Miss middle, tallying 123 kills on the season to go along with a team-high 74 blocks. She is the oldest of a group of middles that includes two freshmen in Cory Tidwell and Lauren Moffett. Both freshmen have steadily improved as the season continues.
Jennifer McGowan and Ashleigh Shear set the team offensively as the setters split time in the 6-2 offense. Shear leads the way with 384 assists on the year, while McGowan has tallied 354 assists.
The Lady Rebels can expect solid things from a Kentucky squad that boasts two hitters with more than 200 kills on the season. Danielle Wallace has put down 258 kills on the year, while Sarah Spinner has knocked home 235 kills for Kentucky.
The Wildcats are a solid team on defense, leading the Southeastern Conference in digs behind the play of Jenni Casper with 276 digs on the year. Sarah Spinner and Alex Montefalco have dug 176 and 158 balls, respectively.
Kentucky has also been solid at the net, following the lead of Amy Kaplan and Kristen Cunningham with 62 and 52 blocks on the year.
