OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss rifle team returns to the range Saturday morning when it hosts Great America Rifle Conference foe Kentucky in a dual-match at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center. Admission is free to the public.
Saturday will be Ole Miss' last home match before the holidays as the Rebels conclude their fall slate with four competitions on the road -- at UT-Martin (Nov. 6), at the Walsh Invitational (Nov. 12), at West Virginia (Nov. 13) and at Nebraska (Nov. 20).
"Kentucky competed in smallbore at last year's NCAA Championships," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe said. "We know they have a lot of potential and we will have to be on top of our game from the start. I have been pleased with our practices the past two weeks. We are all looking forward to Saturday."
Ole Miss has been idle since Oct. 9 when it finished second in a three way with Xavier and Memphis. Freshman Shannon Wilson led the Rebels with a pair of top-five finishes, recording a 581 in air rifle (3rd) and 580 in smallbore (5th). Sophomore Mara Polonsky fired a 580 in smallbore and placed fourth after winning the tiebreaker with 34 center shots.
