OXFORD, Miss. -
tonight's game
Ole Miss is looking to open the season with back-to-back wins when they take on No. 21/23 Louisiana Tech on Wednesday at 7 p.m., in Tad Smith Coliseum.
The Lady Rebels are under the direction of second-year head coach Carol Ross. Ross, who played at Ole Miss from 1979-82, earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors in 2004 after guiding Ole Miss back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons.
Ole Miss opened the 2004-05 season with a 67-48 road win over UAB. Leading the way for the Lady Rebels was senior guard Carletta Brown with 22 points and five assists. Brown connected on 7-of-11 shots from the field, including making 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Sophomore guard/forward Armintie Price added nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Techsters will open the season with tonight's game against Ole Miss. Louisiana Tech returns two starters from last season's Sweet 16 team, however, their leading returnee, senior guard Erica Taylor, is sidelined for the non-conference portion of the schedule as she is expecting a child.
Louisiana Tech is under the direction of third-year head coach Kurt Budke. Budke, who arrived at Louisiana Tech after spending seven seasons as the head coach at Trinity Valley CC, owns a 60-6 record at Louisiana Tech. His overall Division I head coaching record is the same.
