THIBODAUX, La. - Desiree Layman and Stacy McCommon both went 2-for-3 at the plate to help the Rebels notch a 2-1 win over Syracuse in the first game of the Mardi Gras Classic at Nicholls State on Saturday. Layman stole a base and drove in a run, while McCommon stole a base and scored a run in the Ole Miss win.

Freshman Mary Jane Callahan (1-3) earned her first win of the season working all seven innings to secure the win. She struck out two batters and walked none while allowing only four hits.
