OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 2 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team (6-1) continues its five-match homestand with Tennessee Tech Saturday at Noon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
The Rebels swept Southern Miss, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Gillom Sports Center in their first match in nearly two weeks. After winning the doubles, Ole Miss dominated the singles, not allowing a set in any of the matches.
Senior Claes Lindholm continued his outstanding play, remaining undefeated with a 7-0 record at No.3 singles. He has won seven in a row and 12 of his last 13 dating back to the fall. The top three in the lineup are a combined 17-4 in dual matches with junior Catalin Gard and Paul Ciorascu each owning 5-2 records at the top two spots.
Tennessee Tech comes into the match with a 2-5 overall record. They are coming off a 5-2 win over UNC Greensboro at the Clemson Invitational last weekend. The Golden Eagles defeated Troy State 4-3 for their other win on the season. The 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Champion and NCAA participant, Tennessee Tech is led by freshman Marco Born who is just 1-6 at No. 1 singles.
This is the second of three non-conference matches before the Rebels begin defense of their SEC Western Division title next weekend against Alabama and Auburn.
